Calaveras Bigtree National Forest
Park Overview

These ancient, towering specimens, including the famous "Discovery Tree" stump and the impressive "Pioneer Cabin Tree" (which fell in 2017), offer visitors a humbling perspective on nature's grandeur. The park spans approximately 6,498 acres, providing a diverse array of habitats, including mixed conifer forests and the meandering Stanislaus River.

Visitors to the park can enjoy a variety of recreational activities such as hiking, camping, and picnicking amidst the serene backdrop of the Sierra Nevada mountain range. With over 120 miles of trails, the park caters to outdoor enthusiasts of all levels, from leisurely walks through the North Grove to more challenging hikes like the Lava Bluffs Trail. Winter activities include cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, making the park a year-round destination for nature lovers.

Amazing!!
I am from Nebraska and just returned from a vacation to California. We visited the park and found it amazing how big the trees are and the interesting history behind them. I would certainly recommend anyone and all to visit this breathtaking site!
