Kisatchie National Forest
Park Overview
Located in the piney hills and hardwood bottoms of seven central and northern Louisiana parishes, the Kisatchie National Forest is the only national forest in the Pelican State. Kisatchie National Forest provides opportunity for many kinds of recreation activities including: camping, picnicking, swimming, fishing, boating, hiking, hunting, horseback riding, off-highway vehicle use, nature study, sightseeing, and road & mountain bicycle riding. The forest offers more than 40 developed recreation sites and over 100 miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. Saline Bayou was designated a national scenic river in the fall of 1986. A 13-mile water trail has been developed on Saline Bayou. Two national recreation trails are located on the forest, the Wild Azalea Trail and the Sugar Cane Trail.
Camping
There are many camping facilities throughout the Forest. From primitive camping in tents, to full hookup camping in your motorhome or travel trailer. Check the District your interested in to find out what they have to offer.
Fishing and Hunting
Fishing and Hunting on the Kisatchie National Forest is in a setting with some of Louisiana's most beautiful landscapes. The regulations for Louisiana Hunting and Fishing are applied on the Forest, although there are added regulations in some areas. Check with the District Office that you plan on recreating at before your trip.
Trails
Off-Highway Vehicle Trails: The Calcasieu Ranger District, the Kisatchie Ranger District and the Catahoula Ranger District have Off-Highway Vehicle Trails. The Kisatchie Ranger District's Sandstone Trail is seasonally closed from January 1st through March 30th of each year for renovations and repairs. All trails have the chance of closure due to excessive rain and will be posted as such on this websites front page OHV chart as soon as possible. Check with the District Office before your trip.

As natural as it gets.
The best part about Kisatchie - the park is in the rawest natural form - yet access is attainable for hiking, riding, etc. Wonderful any time of year.

this park is the best park ive ever been to you can do all of this stuff just not in one day.
