Jostedalsbreen National Park
Park Overview
Jostedalsbreen is the largest glacier on the mainland in Europe. The glacier is surrounded by a powerful landscape with large contrasts within short distances. Because the glacial situation is dynamic depending on the climate fluctuations, it also constitutes a large nature laboratory of the highest interest. Several worthy natural occurrences can be found here, for example in geomorphology, quaternary geology, vegetation / botany, limnology and type watercourses. The main glacier with its many smaller breezes is the largest area with state land in the county. The national park is located in the municipalities of Balestrand, Sogndal, Luster, Jølster, Førde, Gloppen and Stryn.
