Delta National Forest
Park Overview
Seen from the air, the Delta National Forest glimmers like a great, green jewel surrounded by lazy rivers and spreading agricultural fields. Delta is a large, contiguous block of bottomland hardwood forest, seasonally flooded timber, and small sloughs draining into the Big and Little Sunflower Rivers in the Yazoo Basin of the Mississippi River. It is the only bottomland hardwood ecosystem in the National Forest System.

Great hunting experience
The bottomland hardwood setting that the Delta National Forest offers is a great hunting experience. The woods are beautiful and there are some great bucks there.

Teddy Bear Birthplace
Theodore Roosevelt came here to explore and hunt bear as one of his first Presidential acts. Exasperated at not seeing any bears, his guide roped a small black bear for the President to shoot. Refusing to shoot the trapped bear, Roosevelt came to be known as a man of character and honor and the Teddy Bear soon became the most popular toy in the world.
